Candidate Recruiting Process

JMB Search Associates delivers highly specialized, targeted job search services to our candidates on a personal level. We take a vested interest in each and every candidate we speak with, providing expert job search consultation based on years of recruiting experience. All of our candidate communications are treated professionally, confidentially, and with the utmost respect.

This is how we work:

JMB Search Associates Candidate Recruiting Process
  1. Initial Telephone Consultation: The first step of our candidate recruiting process involves a 10-15 minute telephone conversation, where we look to gain an accurate understanding of your career goals, as well as the talents that you bring to the table that would be of interest to potential employers.

  2. Discussion of Potential Client Opportunities: After the Initial Telephone Conversation, we will discuss any potential client opportunities with you that may be a match for your background. We will give you as much detail regarding these opportunities as we have been authorized to give you by our clients, in order for you to decide if these are opportunities that you wish to pursue. If there are no potential client opportunities that are presently a match for your background, we make sure at this step that we have a thorough understanding of the type of opportunity you are looking for, in order to make you aware of such opportunities as they become available.

  3. In Person Consultation: After Discussion of Potential Client Opportunities, and if you have an interest in pursuing one of these opportunities, we ask you to meet with your JMB Search Associates recruiter in person. We feel that an in person meeting helps us get to know you further, and also gives you a comfort level in having JMB Search Associates represent you in your job search. At this consultation you will have the opportunity to review our client and candidate references. We will ask you to provide professional references at this consultation as well. We have found that the In Person Consultation has provided great benefits for both parties, and has been a vital step in building long term, quality relationships.

  4. Submission of Resume to Client: If there is a client opportunity that we both have determined is appropriate for you to pursue, we will submit your resume to our client after we have obtained your permission to do so. Under no circumstances will we submit your resume to our client without prior written or email authorization from you. You will know at all times exactly where JMB Search Associates has presented your resume.

  5. Interview Preparation: After our client has expressed interest in your background, we will schedule time with you to properly prepare you for your client interview. At this consultation we will discuss details of the position you are interviewing for, the client interview process, specific items the client requires that may not be listed in the job description, etc. It is our job to make sure you have a full understanding of the interview process, and that you are not caught off guard by any circumstances that take place during the client interview.

  6. Interview Debrief: After your client interview, we schedule time to have a 10-15 minute Interview Debrief. At the Interview Debrief we discuss your client interview experience, ascertain your interest in the position, review pros and cons of the client opportunity, and talk about potential obstacles to accepting the position. If you have determined that this position is one that you would like to pursue, we discuss all details related to a potential client offer, and agree on the parameters that are necessary for you to accept a position if it is offered by the client.

  7. Offer Negotiation: If there is interest from the client in moving forward, and interest on your part in moving forward, we work with both you and our client to obtain an offer that is acceptable by all parties concerned. We handle all negotiations on your behalf, removing you from the sometimes uncomfortable salary negotiation process. It is our job to smoothly negotiate all offers, and present you with an acceptable offer that fits within the parameters that were discussed during the Interview Debrief.

  8. Joint Review of Completed Process: After your client interview process is fully completed, we ask that you spend 5 minutes with your JMB Search Associates recruiter to discuss the recently completed process from your perspective. At JMB Search Associates, we place a very high premium on the feedback we receive from our candidates. Let us know what worked and what didn’t work for you on your recently completed job search process. We are always looking for ways to improve our service, and we rely on candid feedback from our candidates to help point out areas where we are doing well, as well as areas where we can improve.
What you should expect from JMB Search Associates
  1. Confidentiality: Your current investigation of the job market will be kept in the strictest confidence.

  2. Professional Courtesy: We will return every one of your calls and emails. You should expect a high level of professional courtesy when working with JMB Search Associates.

  3. Honesty: We will represent all client opportunities accurately, disclosing all factors relating to the position to the best of our knowledge. We will not misrepresent any client opportunity in any way.

  4. Feedback: We will provide timely client feedback to you after every resume submission and client interview. We only work with direct hiring managers/decision makers and avoid working with most vendor managed systems that typically fall short in providing quality feedback to candidates. You should never feel like you have been “left hanging” when you pursue a client opportunity through JMB Search Associates.

  5. Market Knowledge: We will keep in regular contact with you (if you desire) to keep you informed of changes in the job market, as well as any new opportunities that may be a match for your background. At JMB Search Associates, we place a high value on building lasting, long term relationships with our candidates. We are constantly in dialogue with hiring managers, and are consistently gaining new information regarding the job market that may be beneficial to you.
What JMB Search Associates expects of our candidates

As we work together during your job search, we ask the following of you:

  1. Confidentiality: During your job search, we may be sharing client information with you that is deemed sensitive by our clients.  We ask that you treat any confidential client information passed on to you as just that – confidential.


  2. Professional Courtesy: We ask that you return our calls and emails in a timely manner. We will not waste your time with unnecessary communication. If we contact you, it is because we have important information that we need either to convey to you or obtain from you. Prompt exchange of vital information is essential in the job search process.

  3. Honesty: We ask that you provide us with an accurate and honest representation of your background and abilities. It is important for us to fully understand your strengths and weaknesses, so we can find an appropriate position for you.

  4. Updates: We ask that you keep us informed as to any changes that occur during your job search (other offers, interviews, promotions, etc.) as soon as they occur. We understand that each candidate needs to aggressively pursue all options when conducting a job search – all we ask is that you let us know of any changes on your end, so that we can properly inform our clients.

  5. Feedback On Us: We ask that you provide us with feedback on US, and your experience with JMB Search Associates during your job search. We are constantly looking to improve our service – if you see ways that JMB Search Associates can improve our service, please let us know.
